Eating Disorders
I imagine if you are reading this, you have been struggling with your weight, your body, and with food for many years. You may have reached a turning point where you want the pain and suffering to stop but you don’t know how. Or, you may not be completely ready to let go of the eating disorder, but a part of you wants to get better, or at least is curious about the possibility of recovery. This can be a very confusing and frightening time for you.
I am so glad you found my website as I know what you are going through. I want to offer you hope and reassurance. I am living proof that recovery from an eating disorder is possible. I can support you and help navigate you through this difficult time. You are not alone.
With compassion, care, and expertise I can help you overcome the pain and suffering that underlies an eating disorder.
What Does Disordered Eating Look Like?
- Not eating for long periods of time
- Purging (through vomiting, laxatives, diuretics and/or exercise)
- Maintaining an excessive, rigid exercise regime
- Terrified of gaining weight
- Hating your body
- Feeling a complete loss of control when eating
- Feeling ashamed or disgusted after you’ve eaten
- Feeling like a failure because you’ve eaten
- Obsessing over weight, food, calories, grams of fat and dieting
If you can relate to any of the above characteristics or behaviours, therapy can help you.
Counselling with me can help you heal and have a healthy relationship with yourself, your body, and with food.
Is Recovery Possible?
Yes! People can and do recover. Therapy is the best approach to recovery.
Is it Easy?
No. In fact, it will get harder before it gets easier. You will likely experience up and downs, slips and falls, and maybe even relapses. Relearning normal eating habits and coping skills can take time and often requires support from professionals, family, and friends. I can help.
Is it Worth it?
Absolutely. Because YOU are worth it!
One day you will find that all that energy and time you spent thinking about food, calories, and body size will be available to you to spend on building a life of peace, joy, and freedom; a life you so richly deserve.
What Will Therapy Look Like?
You may find the first few sessions to be difficult. You may feel very protective of your eating disorder and not be ready to completely open up. I understand. I will meet you where you are and work at your pace. I know for sure that people heal and grow in connection with others. So, my goal is to create a genuine, trusting relationship with you to help facilitate your healing and growth.
Together we can work to understand what role your eating disorder is playing in your life and learn from it. As you heal, you can begin to embrace healthier ways to cope and over time the eating disorder’s job will no longer be necessary.
There will be times when you feel hopeful and motivated and others where you feel discouraged and want to give up. I understand that. With my support, compassion, and knowledge, you can begin to heal your pain and create the life you want.

Do You Offer Any Workshops?
Yes. I offer Be Body Positive Workshops for adults and adolescents periodically throughout the year.
I am a Licensed Body Positive Facilitator. My Body Positive Groups offer a safe, confidential space to explore concerns about food, exercise, and body images. The focus is a health centred versus weight centred approach. You will learn to relate to your body with kindness, improve your self-image, and develop sustainable positive self-care behaviours so you can lead a truly healthy and engaging life.
The workshops are offered either weekly (10 weeks) for an hour at a time or they are offered over two full days that are scheduled a week apart. Usually for two Saturdays.
